Kristen Coyle

Kristen began her journey with yoga as a teenager looking for a way to calm her mind and bring clarity to her life. After her first Vinyasa class she had the sensation that she was floating and truly free from the burdens that had been riding around on her shoulders! She continued to practice dillingently on her own with books and with many well respected teachers such as David Swenson, Max Strom, Monica Mesa, and Desiree Rumbaugh. At age 19 she discovered Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotional love) which opened her heart to a deep sense of reverence and compassion for other people, animals, and eventually herself as well. The idea that every movement, every breath, every word, everything (!) was an offering to the Divine was profound for her, and to this day influences her teaching. Kristen initially got her 200hr certification with Jaqueline Heisel in the style of Vinyasa Flow, and later went on to receive her 500hr certification with Sri Dharma Mittra in New York City. Sri Dharma Mittra is the true embodiment of compassion, discipline, and Divine reverence, and to be in his presence and receive his blessings to teach yoga is one of the greatest gifts she has ever received. Kristen is also a Certified Massage Therapist, Neuro-Muscular Therapist, and Somatic Mind/Body practitioner. She applys the idea that physical pain has it's roots in emotional pain, and that if we can work through the deeper seated emotions that we've stored in our bodies, the body opens to it's fullest expression of easefulness and wholeness. In her classes, she encourages creativity, alignment, and empowerment. She feels that your practice is an active healing where you are able to express, breathe, meditate, and set free. Om Shanti.
