YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Align and Flow
These Level 1-2, Level 2-3 and mixed level yoga classes integrate the principles of alignment during the flow of a practice. Students are encouraged to experience structural alignment as a result of connection with the conscious flow of energy through their being. Students will learn the main movements of breath, key actions, specific lines of energy, and the balance between opposing movements as they relate to awakening the intentions and benefits of poses.
Awaken
Wake your spirit up with this dynamic mixed levels practice. The perfect start to your morning with just the right ingredients to wake you up: breathwork, alignment, flow, fun, sweat and rest! This class is better than coffee and will keep you balanced and and energized for the rest of the day!
Afternoon D’Lite
The perfect afternoon pick-me-up! This mixed levels class is sure to get your breath, body and energy flowing, moving and balanced! A strong, intelligent and fun flow class with creative sequencing and clear alignment instruction set to sweet tunes.
Breakfast of champions
These strong Mixed Levels and Level 2-3 practices are an alchemical mixture of kick-ass vinyasa yoga, ayurveda, astrology, and whatever you’re hungry for (AKA your requests)! Be prepared for a heart-opening, power-building, mind-shifting, time-stopping, soul-moving, sweaty, sweaty good time. This class will have fresh ingredients, changing themes and music every week. Core and More Vinyasa
This mixed levels practice incorporates intentional breathwork, dynamic movement, deep core cultivation, and holding poses to build steadiness, stability and heat within the structure of the vinyasa flow practice. This class will dive deep into the Third Chakra as both the center of the body and the center of authentic power in order to awaken the core both energetically and physically. This practice will explore and include different stages of arm balances and inversions, as well as more challenging sequences to connect you more fully to your inner fire and unlimited strength. Not suitable for beginners. Just a reminder, sweat happens. Enjoy it.
Dharma Yoga
This mixed levels practice is based on the teaching of Dharma Mittra. Students will learn the fundamentals of the Dharma yoga series, including DY Surya Namaskar Vinyasa and DY Shiva Namaskar Vinyasa to warm up the body, bring flexibility to all muscles and joints, and wake up the nervous system. A gentle yet powerful series of balancing, stretching, back bending, twisting and mild inverted postures will follow. A series of deeper balancing, stretching, back bending, twisting and inverted variations may be taught for students wishing to advance and challenge their practice. This class ends with Deep Relaxation, breathing practices, and concentration/meditation to remove impurities and bring a sense of well-being to the body and radiant peace to the mind.
Fresh From The Yoga Oven
This strong Level 2/3 practice is an alchemical mixture of kick-ass vinyasa yoga, ayurveda, astrology, and whatever you’re hungry for (AKA your requests)! Gentle Yoga
This class is well-suited to those who are looking to practice at a relaxed, gentle pace. Deepen the breath, stretch, relax and refresh, in this simple Hatha class. The foundational poses are presented with modifications and support. Class may also include restorative postures using props for greater relaxation. Ideal for beginners, those who are easing back into shape, recovering from illness or injury or just want to take it easy.
Good Cop/Bad Cop
Experience the powerful synergy when two of D's faves combine to teach this strong, anything goes, sweat guaranteed level 2-3 hatha fusion practice, which includes elements of bhakti, kundalini, prana flow and vinyasa. This class will leave you wondering who's naughty and who's nice... Be prepared to have your world ROCKED!
Good to the Last Drop
This mixed levels practice contains all of the perfect ingredients to move you into awareness, get your energy flowing and create balance for the rest of your day. Come in for a fresh bowl of intention setting, pranayama, asana, vinyasa and a kick of kundalini for good measure. Followed by a very satisfying savasana, of course. Come and fill up your cup!
Happy Ending Happy Hour
Let go of your week and celebrate the weekend! Come stretch, strengthen, sweat and surrender in this one hour, mixed levels flow practice with just the right mood music and lighting.
Hatha Yoga Flow
This well-balanced and well-sequenced class offers clear instruction and focus on foundational yoga posed, different stages within poses and the intention of poses while linking breath, alignment and fluid movement. This practice cultivates stamina, focus, balance, strength and energetic awareness. Explore your depths as you flow and cultivate steadiness of mind, breath, body and spirit. Sweating may be involved! Open to all levels. Practice at your authentic pace.
Kundalini
Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan is a 5,000-year-old science that combines yoga postures (asanas), movement, sound (mantra), breath (pranayama), mudra (body locks) and meditation into powerful sets, called kriyas, in a precise and intentional manner to affect body, mind and soul. The practice of Kundalini Yoga balances the glandular system, strengthens the nervous system, cultivates energy and vitality, and enhances creative potential. This practice strengthens your connection to your innate intelligence and wisdom, creates inner radiance and peace and provides you with the experience of your highest consciousness. This mixed levels practice cultivates moment to moment awareness and intentional movement within the flow of a creatively sequenced vinyasa practice. This class balances both yin and yang energies and quiets the chatter of mind, and will leave you feeling calm and centered in your power.
Power Yoga
This class is a powerful and intentional blend of sweat, strength, stretch and spirit!. Using the connection between breath and movement, you will be challenged to move authentically through creative, intelligent and playful sequencing that will leave you feeling awake, balanced, and empowered. Prenatal Yoga
Our prenatal yoga class is specifically designed to help prepare both you and your body for a happy pregnancy and a labor and delivery for which you feel confident. Using safe yoga postures and stretches, meditation, and relaxation, you will build strength, flexibility, calm, and confidence. Pregnancy is such a physical experience and a woman often becomes hyper aware of the many changes her body is going through. Yoga allows her to adapt more gracefully to these changes and to feel a sense of integration and appreciation for her body. Many women find that regular yoga practice helps to reduce swelling, back and leg pain, and insomnia.
Relax Deeply
We work very hard in our lives, and while we may sleep, we rarely take time to rest. In a world where "doing" is valued over "being," restorative yoga offers allows us to explore deep relaxation, rejuvenation and healing. In this therapeutic practice, traditional yoga postures are held for several minutes with the support of props, including blankets, bolsters, blocks and/or straps, allowing the nervous system to completely quiet and return to a state of balance, while gently stretching and opening the body. The class is ideal for those wanting to balance out their active practice, those going through stressful times, suffering from chronic pain, illness, injury or major life changes. It is also great for anyone who wants to experience rejuvenation of the body and mind through active relaxation and passive stretches and postures.
Soul Flow Vinyasa
A powerful flow class tying the breath with movement in a practice that brings you toward your authentic self. This class is an inspired, eclectic blend of asanas that will sweat out the demons and move you into the light. Come explore the deeper nuances of the asana practice and work through vinyasa from the inside out. This practice is designed to challenge your strength, your balance, your awareness, and then bring the spirit home, refreshed and renewed.
Stiff Guys Yoga
A class for guys only! If you have chronic tension from repetitive motion, overuse of muscles and joints, intense workouts, sports or an injury, this is the perfect class for you. This class focuses on the low back, hips, thighs and shoulders to improve range of motion, increase flexibility, create stability and relieve discomfort, tightness and pain. No flexibility or spandex required.
Sweet Sweaty Power Hour
This intermediate to advanced practice will kick your asana into your week! Drawing from Power Vinyasa and Anusara teachings, this hour will combine expert alignment instruction with challenging and fun sequencing to get you in the flow. This is the perfect way to take your practice to new levels and create some inner radiance and fire! Come ready to explore your arm balances, backbends, core work, deep hip openers, inversions and more! Get ready to get sweaty!!! Come with an open mind and a towel!
Vinyasa Flow
These practices are the synthesis of sacred movement and sound. These breath-inspired journeys will offer the full-spectrum of hatha yoga practice: meditation, music, chanting, pranayama, namaskars (salutations) and asana. Students are empowered to experience the power of their intention and breath as the guiding forces of the yoga practice and vital, conscious living. Through cycles of creative, fluid, purposeful and multi-dimensional sequences (vinyasas) linked with the waves of breath and music, you will experience whole body transformation, deep peace, and the radiance of your very being.
Weekend Warriors
Burn off your week. BE IN YOUR POWER! This Level 2-3 class is about creating clarity and stability through the inner fire of transformation using meditation, breathing, bandha, kriya, namaskar, and asana. We will explore accessible, yet powerful postures and sequences in a dynamic way to promote fluidity and flexibility, as well as remain steadfast in long-holds, to promote mindfulness, patience, inner strength and courage. Most importantly, this is a class about burning brightly, but not burning out. We will learn how to shine without exhausting our precious Ojas, “fluid of life."
Yin Vinyasa
These 90 minute classes combine the practices of Yin yoga and Vinyasa yoga inviting you to calm and balance your energy, and revitalize your body. The first half of class is a Yin practice. Yin yoga is both a meditative and therapeutic practice of long and passive holds to open the joints and release the tensions held within the dense connective tissues of the body (fascia, tendons, ligaments, cartilage). The second half of class is a Vinyasa practice. Vinyasa yoga is a dynamic and energetic practice emphasizing the relationship between breath and movement in a creative flow including the full spectrum of poses and multi-dimensional sequences. This class strikes the perfect harmony between the feminine and masculine, receptive and active, stillness and movement.
Yoga 101
Participants will learn the foundational elements of the yoga practice: ASANAS (postures), PRANAYAMA (breath work), and simple MEDITATION techniques in a supporti...ie,... nurturing and non-competitive environment. The basic yoga poses, proper alignment, use of props, the benefits of proper breathing, and relaxation will be taught and explored. This class will give you the confidence to safely enter a Level 1-2 practice.
Yoga Buffet
This 60 minute flow class serves up some asana for everybody and is guaranteed to satisfy your hunger! Expect a well-rounded, solid practice with attention to creating a strong foundation through alignment so you can enjoy your flow. Modifications, variations and challenges will be offered for every level of practice so you can fuel up on whatever you need to re-energize, re-juvenate and relax! Yummy yummy yoga!
Yogi's Choice
This mixed levels class is the practice where questions are welcome, anything goes and everything is explored. This class is constructed soley on the desires, interests and requests from you, the students! Once the students have spoken, the theme of the class will take form integrating the principles of alignment and flow. Students will learn the main movements of breath, key actions, specific lines of energy, and the balance between opposing movements as they rete to awakening the intentions and benefits of poses. This class may include meditation, pranayama, yin poses, dynamic movement, vinyasa, inversions, heart openers, twists, hip openers, restorative, or anything else that is suggested!
Yoga Church
Come together in community and devotion to strengthen your connection to Source through an intentional and dynamic movement practice. This creative, challenging, creatively sequenced and energizing class will leave you stretched, strengthened, aligned, awake and blissed out! Class may include meditation, pranayama, chanting, sun salutations, sweet asanas, moderate to heavy sweating, and most definitely a relaxing savasana. OM. Suitable for Levels 2-3.
Yoga Virgins
These classes are designed specifically for anyone new or new-ish to yoga, including those with no yoga experience. In this supportive and non-competitive environment, students are introduced to basic yoga concepts, philosophy and practices. Basic yoga poses, proper alignment, use of props, the benefits of proper breathing, breathing techniques and relaxation are taught and explored. This class will give you the confidence to safely enter a Level 1-2 practice. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and an open mind!
